Who Should Attend?
Empower Youth Success consists of three conferences over four days. It is one of the largest training and networking events for afterschool and expanded learning program providers in the state and the only state-wide community schools conference. The trainings offered have individual focus for each portion of the conference:
Community Schools are schools where educators, local community members, families, and students work together to strengthen conditions for student learning and healthy development using the community schools strategy. The Wednesday and Thursday, two day portion of the conference, provides training to new and established community schools with emphasis on the Essentials for Community School Transformation Framework, resilience, and equity.
Igniting Community Schools Dinner (Ticketed Event) At this dinner, we aim to capitalize on the state and national momentum around community schools and to demonstrate the power of collective vision for igniting community school initiatives and improving the lives of students, families, and communities. This event is an excellent opportunity to bring together key stakeholders to leverage community schools to make a difference in our communities.
21 CCLC (21st Century Community Learning Centers ) is a federally-funded program which supports the creation of community learning centers that operate programs for students, particularly those who attend high-poverty and low-performing schools, and their families. The Friday, one day portion of the conference, provides training sessions selected and designed by NYSED and the NYS Technical Assistance Resource Centers (TARC) to support staff of grant award winners. Friday conference attendance is a requirement of their subgrantee guidelines. These attendees may add-on and purchase the Saturday School’s Out, Make It Count! portion of conference to further their education.
School’s Out, Make it Count! is one or two days of training on Friday and/or Saturday focused on professional development for afterschool, summer, and expanded learning programs. Sign up for one or both days to further your education.
Empower Youth Success is four days of training, Wednesday through Saturday, registering for both Community Schools and School’s Out, Make It Count! portions of the conference. Those signing up for the four days of conference will be from community schools that also have afterschool, summer, and expanded learning programs. This conference enrollment will maximize your learning experience for your program.
