Join supporters of afterschool, summer, and expanded learning programs to uplift the need to increase access to high-quality afterschool programs. Legislators will be at the Capitol negotiating with their colleagues about what programs to fund.We need your voice to show them that afterschool cannot be an afterthought in the FY 2024-2025 budget. Last year’s budget included increased funding to help expand afterschool access; however, significant demand for afterschool in New York still remains. This year, the NYS Network for Youth Success is hosting an Afterschool Day of Action at the State Capitol. First Women Virtual Classroom Connections NASA x Lights On AfterschoolThis year NASA is introducing a new series, "FIRST WOMEN," Virtual Classroom Connections. Women are making history at NASA every day and now they’re giving you the chance to meet them. This series highlights a few of the women who have had a crucial impact on STEM fields. An upcoming installment of the series, presented in partnership with STEM Next Opportunity Fund in honor of Lights on Afterschool, will feature a special conversation with Charlie Blackwell-Thompson, the first female launch director at NASA. On November 16, 2022, Blackwell-Thompson led her team during the first launch of Artemis – an uncrewed flight test of SLS and the Orion spacecraft.
