The bill proposed by the chair of the Senate committee overseeing the bill has proposed eliminating 21^st Century entirely, and rolling those funds into a block grant that could be used for afterschool and summer programs—but could also be used for many other things! The House has already moved a bill out of committee that does the same thing.

As the largest funding source for afterschool programs in New York, losing the 21st Century programs would drastically decrease access to afterschool. 60,000 children and families would lose their programs.
