Complete all the sections and successfully pass the quiz at the end in order to receive credit. You will have four weeks from registration to finish all of the content, if you want to earn OCFS training credit.

Group Games for Physical Development

Learn how to promote physical development in your school-age program, no matter what space you have available. This course features the different types of activities that get children moving, and guidance on how to facilitate those activities.

The goal of this course is to prepare you, as an adult in the program, to create opportunities for young people to move their bodies and develop skills and physical health.

The objectives of this course are:

  1. Identify games and activities that promote physical development, movement, and play, and
  2. Examine how movement and physical development can be incorporated across the curriculum, schedule, and environment.

This course will count for 1.5 hours of training in the following areas: CBK 4 and OCFS 3.

Social-Emotional Learning

What is Social-Emotional Learning, and how do school-age programs promote it?

This course will introduce you to the concept of Social-Emotional Learning (SEL). You will learn the history behind this approach, including the research and evidence that supports SEL.

The goal of this course is to explore SEL and apply it in youth settings, including school-age child care, youth centers, summer camps, and classrooms. You will assess your own skill in SEL and review resources and activities that you can bring into your work with youth.

The objectives of this course are to:

  • Identity key elements of social-emotional learning
  • Determine applications of SEL in youth programming
  • Assess one’s own development in social-emotional learning

This session will count for 2.5 hours in the following training areas: CBK 4 and OCFS 3.
