Individuals must take both semesters (Part 1 and Part 2)\n*Classes (Parts 1 and 2) can be taken in either order (in a variety of formats)\, but not at the same time. \nCourse Description\nThe School Age Care Credential Course is an in-depth study of competency standards that reflect best practices in after-school programs. This course is specifically designed for individuals currently employed in school age child care programs\, who serve children ages 5 to 13 years old.  Competency standards demonstrating the ability to nurture children’s physical\, social\, emotional and intellectual growth will be explored. SUMMARY:Expanding Trauma-Informed Care to Recognize the impacts of Historical Traumas
DESCRIPTION:This session will address Cultural Humility from a Haudenosaunee and Native American\ncultural perspective and discuss some of the historical and continuing factors that impact\ndiverse communities but are often unrecognized by mainstream society. Using a Trauma-\nInformed Care approach\, we will explore the multiple factors of historical traumas and the\nunresolved\, continuing consequences of these challenges\, referencing Native American\nexperiences. Based on these perspectives\, we will provide insights into some of the dynamics that may impact cross-cultural interactions\, levels of trust and mistrust\, and emerging approaches that are designed to improve the health and wellbeing of all peoples.
