This course is specifically designed for individuals currently employed in school age child care programs\, who serve children ages 5 to 13 years old. Competency standards demonstrating the ability to nurture children’s physical\, social\, emotional and intellectual growth will be explored. Major topics include maintaining a safe\, healthy learning environment\, child development\, challenging behaviors\, observing and recording\, working with families\, curriculum development\, operational program management\, communication\, and professionalism. Current theories and trends of working with and educating school age children will be investigated by SACC Candidates. Part 1 covers skill areas 1-7\, and Part 2 covers skill areas 8-14. \nCost\n$1\,450.00* per semester. DESCRIPTION:Begins June 2\n6:00-8:00pm\nTuesdays/Wednesdays\n(June 2-July 15)\n\n\nCourse Description\nThe NYS School-Age Credential (SAC) PreK Endorsement Course is a study of competency standards that reflect best practices in Pre-K after-school programs. This Prekindergarten SAC Credential is specifically designed for individuals currently employed in school-age programs\, and who have completed the NYS School Age Care (SAC) Credential\, to gain additional competencies specific to facilitating a Prekindergarten afterschool program. Competency standards demonstrating the ability to nurture children’s physical\, social\, emotional and intellectual growth will be explored. Major topics include maintaining a safe\, healthy learning environment\, child development\, guidance\, operational program management\, self\, social and emotional development\, out of school environment\, creative\, physical development\, and cognitive development. Current theories and trends of working with and educating Pre-K school age children will be investigated by SACC Candidates.  Each topic is a minimum of 2 hours. \nThis endorsement serves as an additional education qualifier (or other Office recognized credential specific to the preschool developmental period) for individuals seeking to serve as Group Teachers in PreKindergarten programs operated under a NYS OCFS School-Age Child Care (SACC\, 414) license. This credential will be recognized by OCFS as an education qualifier to run the PreK portion of a SAC Licensed Program. \nPrerequisite: Individuals MUST have a current NYS SAC Credential.  \nCost\n$960+$200(non refundable deposit fee)  = $1160\nDeposit is not eip eligible\n*** Endorsement\, books and required NYSNYS membership fees are not included. \nMethod of Instruction\nVirtual – Live-Instructor.
