This session will address Cultural Humility from a Haudenosaunee and Native American
cultural perspective and discuss some of the historical and continuing factors that impact
diverse communities but are often unrecognized by mainstream society. Using a Trauma-
Informed Care approach, we will explore the multiple factors of historical traumas and the
unresolved, continuing consequences of these challenges, referencing Native American
experiences. Based on these perspectives, we will provide insights into some of the dynamics that may impact cross-cultural interactions, levels of trust and mistrust, and emerging approaches that are designed to improve the health and wellbeing of all peoples.
