DESCRIPTION:This is the first in the Power of 3:00 Afterschool Advocacy webinar series aimed to teach participants the basics of afterschool advocacy in New York. This first session\, “Afterschool Advocacy 101: The Basics” will introduce you to the basics of advocacy and what it means for the afterschool field. This session will: \n\nExplain the difference between advocacy and lobbying efforts and provide examples of each;\nShow what advocacy can look like in an afterschool setting; outline “who’s who” in New York State government\nIntroduce participants to the funding landscape at the state level for afterschool and;\nPresent opportunities for participants to engage in advocacy at the state level to support afterschool.\n\nThis session is the first part in a multi-part series. Future topics will include storytelling; media engagement; meeting with decision-makers and more!
