SUMMARY:Professional Development on MLK Day!
DESCRIPTION:Join PD Director Timothy Fowler for a   morning of school-age learning! This special offering on Dr. King’s birthday holiday will cover topics relevant to school-age providers in afterschool\, summer\, and   expanded learning programs. This morning event features two 90-minute sessions (a total of 3 hours of training):\n\nGames for Groups: Learn about activities that promote connection\, energy\, and community. This session will be highly interactive; we will do icebreakers and energizers focused on building social connections. Handouts with descriptions of all activities will also be shared.\nOFCS areas: 1\, 3  CBK 1\, 4\n\nGiving Youth Control in STEAM Learning: Understand how to facilitate STEAM (science\, technology\, engineering\, arts\, and math) learning in a way that gives young people agency and control over their own learning. This session will apply project-based learning practices with a focus on letting young people make key decisions.\nOFCS areas: 3  CBK 4\n\nWHEN: Monday January 17 from 9 AM- 12:15 PM (First session 9–10:30; Second session 10:45–12:15)\n\nWHERE: Virtual via Zoom\n\nCOST: $45.00 per person
